Introduction:
I’m the founder of SmartSec Academy, a behavioural cybersecurity awareness platform designed to help organisations improve everyday decision-making under pressure.
Most cybersecurity training adds information. SmartSec Academy was built to remove confusion. Instead of focusing heavily on technical setup or compliance language, the platform focuses on how people recognise risk, pause, and make better decisions in real-world work situations.
I built the project after noticing that many security incidents begin with routine human decisions rather than advanced hacking. I wanted to create something calmer, clearer, and more practical for everyday staff, especially non-technical teams.
The platform combines structured video training, secure member access, certificate verification, AI-assisted guidance, and a clean user experience designed to feel professional without overwhelming users.
What Problems Did Memberstack Help You Solve:
Memberstack helped me solve the biggest challenge of turning a Webflow website into a real user platform without needing to build a custom authentication system from scratch.
Without Memberstack, I would have needed to handle user accounts, login logic, password resets, protected content, session management, and onboarding flows manually or hire a developer much earlier in the process. That would have significantly increased both the cost and development time of the project.
It also helped simplify access control for the training platform. I was able to protect the training area, create gated member access, manage onboarding flows, and customise login and logout behaviour while still keeping the site lightweight and easy to manage.
Most importantly, Memberstack allowed me to focus on improving the actual SmartSec Academy experience and training product rather than getting stuck building backend infrastructure before the platform was usable.
What Are Your Favorite Things About Memberstack?
One of my favourite things about Memberstack is how quickly it allowed me to turn a Webflow site into a real gated platform without needing to build a custom backend from scratch. That made a huge difference as an early-stage founder trying to move quickly while still keeping the experience professional.
I also like how flexible it is. I’ve been able to customise login flows, onboarding, mobile navigation behaviour, gated content, and password reset flows in a way that still feels lightweight and manageable.
Another thing I appreciate is that it helped me focus on building the actual SmartSec Academy product instead of spending months on infrastructure. Features like member authentication, protected training pages, and onboarding flows were much easier to implement than they would have been with a fully custom solution.
Overall, Memberstack helped me bridge the gap between a marketing website and a usable training platform without overcomplicating the build process.
How I Built This:
I started by building the main SmartSec Academy website in Webflow because I wanted full control over the design, structure, responsiveness, and overall user experience. The goal from the beginning was to create something clean, calm, and easy to navigate rather than overwhelming users with technical complexity.
For authentication and gated content, I integrated Memberstack to handle logins, protected training access, password resets, and onboarding flows. This allowed me to turn the site into a functioning training platform without needing a fully custom backend.
The training videos are hosted through Cloudflare Stream, while Cloudflare also handles DNS, security, redirects, SSL, and performance optimisation across the platform. Payments are handled through Stripe, and I use OpenAI’s API to power SmartSecGPT, which is integrated into the website to help users navigate the platform and answer questions.
The project has been built step by step with a strong focus on simplicity, scalability, and user experience. A big part of the process has been refining small details such as onboarding emails, mobile navigation, gated lesson flow, and certificate verification to make the platform feel polished and professional from day one.
